The day I've been waiting for finally arrived! Back in the beginning of February I wrote two posts, Ready for Some Red Meat! and Ordered Our Meat, both about our adventure of ordering a 1/4 cow from a local farmer. Since we placed our order, there really hasn't been much action in this area.
But I'm happy to announce that we got our meat! It was actually ready over Easter weekend but since we were out of the province then, we didn't get it until Monday. Dan went and picked it up while I was at work and I couldn't wait until I arrived home to sort through it and hug it. Yes, I was that excited.
We ordered our meat from Heritage Cattle Company and it's all natural grass-fed beef, so a little more expensive than grain-fed. All the meat filled up four wine boxes and cost us $524.
We lugged it downstairs and into our cold room and finally got to fill up our freezer!
It felt so nice to be able to fill each basket with different cuts of beef.
Doesn't it look fabulous? And the good news is, there's still lots of space in there to hold the 10 chickens we plan on adding to it later this summer.
