What's Growing Wednesday

I feel like I just wrote one of these posts, but that's probably because I basically did. That's what happens when you take almost a week off from blogging.

But it has been a week so I will once again post my weekly garden update. I'm still constantly amazed at how fast my garden grows and what a difference a week makes.

The only problem with everything growing so fast, is that the weeds also grow so fast. It's hard to keep up with them!

I am really pleased with my peppers, it's getting exciting to see them take shape and I'm hoping that we will get a better harvest from them this year.

I'm also amazed with how fast my beets, spinach and swiss chard grew. I really need to start eating them soon, so that they don't go to waste.

Just ignore the crazy amount of weeds in the above photo. Like I said, it's hard to keep on top of them.

I replanted carrots last week and I excited to see that they are growing! This just thrills me since the first planting didn't go as well as hoped.

I'm also exited to see that I'll be picking beans and peas within the next week or two. It's been a while since we had fresh beans on our dinner plates.

Our broccoli is looking nice and healthy which is another good change from last year. I tried a different seed variety and so far it seems to be doing well.

And even though our zucchini got off to a rough start, it is doing awesome now and is even blooming!

That about sums up my garden post for the week, but I will leave you with one last picture of my basil in the gutter herb garden. It's the only herb that grew but seems to be doing alright so far. I do still plan on purchasing some herb plants from the farmer's market to help the herb garden along, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

  1. Everything is looking great! And I HATE how fast weeds grow!! I turn around and have to weed again it seems!

  2. Kate - Thanks! I'm actually feeling better about the garden this afternoon after spending a good chunk of my morning weeding. It looks so nice when it's freshly weeded!

  3. Wow, it's really coming along!

  4. Erin - Isn't it! I'm pretty excited with how good it's looking!
