I Like To Move It Move It

It's that time of the year again! As in, winter is over and I get all motivated to work out once more. With the arrival of Spring and warmer temperatures, my desire to start running again has returned.

One of my 14 goals for 2014 is to run another 5k but in order to do so, I need to train for it again. I ran from the beginning of April to the end of June last year but haven't done any running since. After I sprained my ankle in the motorcycle accident last July, I took a long term break to let it heal properly. Then winter hit and lasted 6 months.

But it's time to get back out there! Starting next Monday I plan to pull out my running gear and begin the Couch to 5K program again. Although since I don't really have any deadlines in mind, I am going to take it slowly and work my way up at a comfortable pace. No need to overdo it and then quit. Slow and steady is my goal!

Anyone else ever done the Couch to 5K program? Plan on doing it? Anyone want to join me?

  1. Yay for Spring weather!! Haven't done the Couchto5K but I am definitely going to look into it, with a mudrun in June that I seriously need to get ready for!

  2. You can probably count all your Seattle walking as the start of training too :)

  3. Kate - Spring weather is wonderful! It's just a shame that our road is still too flooded to actually run or walk. I think it's pretty brave that you are participating in a mudrun, I'm too wimpy for that.

Jackie - I am definitely counting all that walking as training! And you'd be proud, I even went for a walk today. :)

  4. I am going to do a 5 k in the mountain in the fall... and am working up to being ready too! :) I am doing intervals, so as to avoid hurting my hips/knees again. Which means really slow and steady. Kind of tedious at the beginning, but it will be worth it in the end I am sure!
So, count me in for encouragement!

  5. Cora - I'm so impressed with your hard core 5k's! If I do one in the fall, it will probably be the colour run and I want you to join me. :D I will definitely help encourage you if you encourage me!
