The Storm Inside is a book written specifically for women and deals with feelings that we have all struggled with at some point in our lives. This book touches on heartbreak, disappointment, unforgiveness, shame, regret, fear, insecurity, insignificance, despair and rage and gives us hope for how to deal with these feelings. Sheila assures us we are normal for having these emotions and then uses personal stories, Bible passages and prayer to help us work through them. She takes each one of these negative feelings and helps us turn them into something beautiful by walking us through our feelings instead of stuffing them down and ignoring them.
When I first picked up this book, I had high hopes for what it held and I can now safely say I was not disappointed. From the first chapter, I felt like Sheila was speaking right to me and this feeling continued on throughout the book. Every chapter challenged me and made me see what areas of my life need more work than others. Her way of writing made it easy to read even though it deals with relatively heavy topics. What I especially liked is that at the end of each chapter, there is a section to help you apply what you have learned. Sheila asks questions and gives you an opportunity to deal with the feelings and issues that the chapter had opened up in your heart.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. I already have a small list started of who I would like to lend it to and who I think would really appreciate it and grow from it.
