Exciting times have begun in our garden! No more lolling about ignoring the garden and letting it do its thing, it's time to start harvesting!
The beans are now in full force which means picking them every two days if I want to stay on top of the growth. And the tomatoes are starting to ripen too, so I have to keep an eye on them as well.
We were gone for the weekend and when I headed out to my garden yesterday, I was shocked with how much change can happen in just a few short days. I spent the next little while picking beans, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and peppers.
First harvest of the season and I was pretty thrilled! We even celebrated by having toasted tomato sandwiches last night for dinner.
This morning I went out to the garden early to snap some more pictures of things and the sunshine was hitting everything perfectly. With the combination of the dew and sun, it made for some nice pictures.
Everything is growing well and I'm excited for more vegetables over the coming weeks. My second planting of beets is coming along slowly though and I'm worried they won't grow enough to actually be able to do anything with them. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm sure my joy of being able to pick beans will wear off soon but for now, I'm going to take joy in harvesting vegetables and being able to eat food from our own backyard.
Until next week!
P.S. Dear Jackie, I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday and that you waited all day for one. I used it as my recovery day from our 14 hour drive on Monday. Please forgive me?
