And Now We Wait

So our first IUI cycle is complete. Well, the traveling part at least. We still have the dreaded two week wait where we wish and hope and pray that a baby is in there.

We only had to make the crazy early morning trips for a week, which is way better than our last cycle when it was 9 days straight. But still, 4am comes way too early and we were are pretty exhausted and grumpy by the end of it. Sunday night I was told to give myself the Ovidrel which, for those of you who forget, is the drug I have to give myself a needle for. Super not fun.

I nearly passed out, mostly because I thought I was brave and could give it to myself while sitting on a kitchen chair. Turns out, I should really only inject myself while reclining on a couch or bed. Oops.

Monday we headed to Toronto for the 7am monitoring and then had to kill a few hours before the actual IUI procedure. We went and looked at cars (to buy) and thoroughly enjoyed dreaming about fancy new cars. We then headed back to the clinic for noon and were ushered back into a room. Here is the traditional before and after shots of how we try and make a baby.

Before

After

I know, super romantic. At least I looked cute!

Tuesday we were back bright and early for more monitoring and then more time killing. We opted for chilling out in the car, walking around the neighbourhood, doing some Eaton Centre shopping and trying to pet pigeons.

Time sort of dragged, even with all of our super cool outings, so we were back at the clinic early. The good thing about showing up early though, is that we are then the first ones in for the IUI procedure. Everything went smoothly with the second IUI and it looked like I had already released 1-2 good sized follicles. So here's hoping this leads to a baby!

We are so excited to finally be done with the early mornings and are really hoping that this cycle is it for us. If not, we're moving on to injectables and I really don't want to have to give myself needles every day.

As always, I'll keep you posted as to results once I know them. Keep us in your thoughts!
