CIAW 2017 - Out in the Open

Today marks the start of Canadian Infertility Awareness Week and as most of you know, this is a cause that I am very passionate about. I strongly believe in raising awareness, speaking out alongside others who are sharing and helping give a voice to those who are not quite ready to share.

This years theme is Out in the Open: Tell us Your Story and I will be doing that by sharing stories from others who have walked and are continuing to walk this journey of infertility. This week on the blog, I will be posting every day with a different story from someone who has volunteered to share their experiences, so please be sure to check back daily.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I will also be posting stuff there. You can find me by searching @thecanadianhousewife or clicking one of the social media buttons on the side.

If you want to share your story or have read any blogs that are talking about infertility this week, please let me know in the comments. Let's talk about a disease that is often overlooked and brushed aside, let's keep this conversation going!

  1. I hate that this week has to exist, but I love the attention you bring to it every year. <3

We're selling a lot of children's clothes and toys online right now, and the bundle we sold Wednesday went to a woman who, after recurrent losses, is hoping to become a mom either in July via adoption or next spring via surrogate. I wasn't home when she came to pick up it up, but Jeff engaged her in conversation and shared our own struggles. She's now invited me out for coffee and hopes I'll walk beside her through these next steps--and I'm honored to do so.

Loss is loss, no matter when or how.

    1. Thanks Tory. I'm sad that this week exists too.

What a great connection you have made! I love that you're meeting for coffee and that she wants you to be a part of her journey, I'm sure you'll be a comfort to her.
